Mourinho’s First Summer

The Summer is off to a great start for Manchester United. First off and most important we sacked Louis Van Gaal, then followed that by hiring the worlds best manager. Jose Mourinho. Jose Mourinho is set to take Manchester United and make them the worlds best team once again.

Mourinho got to work right away putting together the squad he wants at United. First thing he did was go out and sign Eric Bailly. Bailly is a young Central Defender who is able to play on both the left and right flanks. He is big, fast and has no fear. He is young and has much to learn but he has so much potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if he started the season alongside Chris Smalling as the starting centre back pairing.

After the signing of Eric Bailly, Jose got to work making a few more moves regarding the the squad. First thing he did was extend the contract of Michael Carrick. The 34 year old Carrick is set to play his 10th season at Manchester United. He may play a different role with the club this season compared to years pass. My gut feeling is that Carrick is being brought back for another season mainly for his leadership. I do think he will get a fair amount of playing time, I just expect it to be down from previous seasons. Jose also went on to release Victor Valdes and Nick Powell.

Now whats next for Mourinho and Manchester United for the rest of this transfer window. I expect Manchester United to make a few more signings this window. I think having already securing the signature of Eric Bailly is a great start, but where will we go from here. I see Mourinho signing a 2 strikers, central midfielder, a right winger and possibly one more defender either a right back or another center back.

I think one of the areas Mourinho is certain to strengthen is striker. When it comes to who United are going to sign to play up front I agree with what everyone else is saying. To me its pretty obvious that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is heading to United on a free transfer as soon as his contract with PSG officially comes to an end on June 30th. But i think United will also sign Breel Embolo. Embolo is an up and coming attacker who can play up top at striker but he can also play on the right wing. Breel is big and fast player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Signing Embolo would really help strengthen the Manchester United attack force.

Another area i think Jose could strength is the right wing. I think that even if we do sign Breel Embolo, i still think United could sign another right wing player. But who could we sign to play on the right? I think the player we sign is Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund. Henrikh is coming off a season where he scored 23 goal and had 32 assists in 52 games. Thats an incredible record. The Armenian Winger is very versatile, being able to play on the right and left wings as well as a cental attacking midfielder. Signing Henrikh would be amazing.

When it comes to central midfield it gets a little more interesting.  Having missed out on Renato Sanches who signed with Bayern Munich makes it a little more less known as to who United want to sign. A few names have popped up as possible signings for Jose Mourinho. Names such as Paul Pogba, Andre Gomes and Saul. Obviously the top choice signing would be Paul Pogba. He is great on the ball, he can put the ball on an attackers foot from 50 yards and he can put a screamer in the top corner from 40 yards with the best of them. But I’m not exactly sure we can sign Pogba from Juventus. But what about Andre Gomes. Andre is also great on the ball and can pick out any pass, he is also on of the smartest young players with the ball at there feet. But honestly I would rather United signed Saul or Marcelo Brozovic. Both Saul and Brozovic are intelligent players and are great passers of the ball. But the biggest reason I would prefer United signed Saul or Brozovic is both of these players are more versatile than Andre Gomes. But if we can sign Paul Pogba thats the man we should sign, if we are not able to sign Pogba I prefer Saul.

If thinks continue the way they are going its going to be a great summer for Jose Mourinho, Manchester United and the clubs fans. If United manage to Zlatan, Breel Embolo, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pogba, United will not only compete for the Premier League next season but I think they will win the Premier League.

Its a great time to be a Manchester United fan.

United v Spurs Preview

Alright let’s get straight to the point. This game is huge. We have seven games left and are one point behind City for 4th place and that coveted Champions League spot. Winning this game is going to be a key to a successful season. We need this.

But one question is what starting 11 will Louis Van Gaal play and how will they set up? Well it’s pretty common knowledge that we will most likely play a 4-2-3-1 which has been a constant since we finally did away with the 5-3-2 last season. But a big question is who will play. Well that really depends on how attacking Van Gaal wants to play and who all is actually fit enough to play possibly a full 90 minutes. We saw Ashley Young have a good outing with the under 21’s earlier this week. However I don’t think that Van Gaal will stray far from the team that beat Everton.

The only real change I see in the line up will be Matteo Darmian moving from the Right to the left and Timothy Fosu-Mensah filling in at right back where he played will well both defensively and on the attack. Part of the reason I see this change being implemented is due to how poor Marco Rojo played last week. However the only time I see Rojo playing today is if Daley Blind isn’t able to go.

Alright so as far as a prediction on how I see the game going. I think this will be a tough game for United. United did manage a Victory over Spurs to start the season off. However that was a much different situation than now. United have had many injuries to deal with, and Spurs haven’t had very many. Spurs in fact have had the emergence of Talents such as Dele Alli and continued emergence of Eric Dier. I think Manchester United will go out and play a good game but I’m not certain they will be able to hold Tottenham scoreless.

United All-Time XI

Manchester United has a long and rich history of being a great club both on and off the pitch. United remains the Worlds biggest and most important club even though the team has been hit by some major road blocks since the departure of Sir Alex, but lets save that for another time. Over the years Manchester United has had many world class players. So i was thinking why not make my first post not be a gloomy post about the current state of the club. So I decided to go ahead and put together my United All-Time starting XI.

When I first thought about putting together an All-Time XI, I wasn’t sure what formation would be good to really get the best possible eleven to represent Manchester United. I ended up choosing to use a 4-3-3. The reason I chose to use the 4-3-3 is because I didn’t want to leave out any players that had to be included. Well without further lets dive right in to my United All-Time XI.

Edwin Van Der Sar

Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand

Gary Neville and Patrice Evra

Paul Scholes and Roy Keane

Sir Bobby Charlton

Ryan Giggs and George Best

Wayne Rooney

Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, Bryan Robson, Duncan Edwards

Alright this got really tough once I got to the midfield. United is a club with not just a great history but the number of Legends of the game to have played for the club makes this so much harder. Lets hope this leads to a discussion amongst fans.
